This privacy page explains, in ordinary language, what weddingguestbooks.com.au collects and why. It is general information, not a legal advice letter and not a complete picture of every law that may apply to you.
The site is an editorial guide. It has no shop, no user accounts, and no membership. You can read the pages without sending a name. If you only browse, the information created is mostly technical and short-lived, the sort of record a host keeps to deliver a file and to notice abuse.
What you send on purpose
The contact form asks for a name, an email address, and a message. That is the personal information we invite. The form also includes a hidden field meant to catch automated junk; people should leave it blank.
The form is delivered through FormSubmit to the editorial inbox. FormSubmit is a third-party service. Their systems receive the contents of the form in order to pass the message on. You should read their own notices if you want to understand their role in detail. We use the service to carry mail, not to build a marketing list.
Please do not send payment details, copies of passports, marriage certificates, or scans of other people's guest book pages. We do not need those to answer a question about a guide. If you send more than the question requires, we may still receive it; that is a reason to keep the note short.
We use the message to reply, to fix a page, or to understand a gap in the guides. We do not sell the contents. We do not publish your email as a testimonial.
What hosts and browsers create
The company that hosts the website may record logs that include an IP address, the time of a request, the page asked for, and a browser identification string. Those logs exist to serve the site, to find faults, and to notice attacks. We do not use them to build a profile of a reader.
This site is built to work without a marketing pixel of our own. Your browser may still send ordinary request headers. If you use a network, employer, or school connection, that network may keep its own logs. We do not control those.
Search engines that follow the robots rules may copy public pages. That is how a public guide is found. It is not a collection of your private mail.
Cookies and local storage
We do not run an account system, so we do not set an account cookie. The contact form does not need you to create a login. If the host or the form provider sets a technical cookie in order to deliver a page or to discourage abuse, that cookie is not used here as a sales tool.
You can block cookies in your browser. The guides should still read. The form may still send.
Other people's words
A wedding guest book is full of other people's handwriting. Do not send us those pages. Do not ask us to host them. The keepsakes guide treats a guest book as a private object; this privacy page does the same.
If you mention a third person in a contact message, send the least that the question needs. We cannot take responsibility for a story you tell about someone else.
How long things stay
A contact message stays in the inbox for as long as it is useful to answer you or to fix a page, and then it follows the ordinary life of an email system — including backups we do not individually curate. Hosting logs follow the host's own retention.
If you want a message deleted from the inbox, write and say so from the same address you used, and describe the date and subject as well as you can. We will do what a person can reasonably do in an ordinary mailbox. We cannot rewrite every backup on every system that briefly touched the mail.
Children
The guides are written for people planning a wedding, which in Australia is an adult legal act. The contact form is not meant for a child to use about themselves. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write and say so.
Official records
Nothing on this site is a government record. The legal record of a marriage is held through your celebrant and the relevant Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Those offices have their own privacy rules. A guest book you keep at home is your object.
Changes and contact
If this page changes in a way that affects how a message is handled, we will update the text here. The date in the site footer is the year of the current edition.
To ask about this page, use the contact form and keep the note short. You can also read about the guide if you want the editorial context rather than the data context.
We do not sell personal information. We do not run a shop. The least you can send is usually the most we need.
